When the Water Was Sweet is a live-performance music video directed for independent artist himanshu. Written in memory of his grandparents, the song is a centerpiece of his EP, The Land of the Free. The film captures a raw, on-location vocal performance where the visuals and audio were recorded live simultaneously to preserve the genuine emotional weight of the moment.

We built the whole film around a live performance because that's what the song deserved. No lip sync, no artificial recreations. We found a location that felt like it had actually been lived in: warm, worn, specific. The kind of place that holds memory. From there, we let the performance unveil. Long takes, an unhurried pace, and the matka sitting at the center of it all — visually and acoustically.
